Take part in the 'Volunteer Challenge' on the 16th July against the Volunteer Arms in Uphall (darts and Dominoes) and also watch out for the forthcoming Whisky Tasting evening and live music sessions.

We have just learnt that Platform 3 has been shortlisted again this year for the 2008 SLTN Community Pub of the Year award

April, 2008
Platform 3 has been accredited with the Best Bar None award (Silver standard). Best Bar None aims to reward licensees who provide good management, a safe and enjoyable environment for customers, discourage binge drinking and prevent alcohol-related crime. It encourages licensees to act responsibly and take pride in their premises and surroundings and, in doing so, put something back into the Town and their local community.

May, 2007
Platform 3 was named as runner-up in the CAMRA Forth Valley real ale awards.  The pub was presented with the certificate by CAMRA Forth Valley chairman Alistair Prior who later enjoyed a drink with some of our regulars.  Another accolade for Platform 3.

November, 2006
Platform 3 has been Highly Commended by the Scottish Licenced Trade News as Community Pub of the Year.  We were given second place by the judges, which is a great accolade and which reflects the kind of pub that we are.

We congratulate the winner, and can proudly say that Platform 3 is one of the best pubs in all of Scotland.

Although Platform 3 is primarily a "talking" pub we do nevertheless play a full part in the social activities of the town and surrounding district.  In fact a great many of our "regulars" are involved in various ways in the life of the town, and you will sometimes see a poster on the wall advertising one of their events.

Platform 3 again proudly sponsored the annual "Duck Race" again this year (don't ask - But it's great fun and raises funds for the GalaDay).  We also sponsor Annet House, the Linlithgow museum, which is well worth a visit, and we have in the past hosted a wedding reception for friends of our regulars.  You may sometimes meet the local MSP who uses the pub for meetings from time to time as she enjoys the ambiance and safe surroundings.

The pub also has:
The golf team who play for the 'Sprinter trophy' (in memory of a past regular)
The horse racing enthusiasts (supported financially by the pub).
The whisky afficionados (distillery visits are arranged by the pub).
An annual Burn's Night Supper for regulars (paid for by the pub).
The Highland Games Club which is run as a 'private venture' by regulars, but is supported by the pub.

A number of organisations and clubs, from both near and far, treat Platform 3 as place of choice to visit when refreshments and a bit of relaxation are felt to be in order.  For example after a particularly demanding rehearsal (or even another successful performance) the local thespians, The Linlithgow Players regularly call in as do the Edinburgh Hash House Harriers whose main object seems to be to run about this part of Scotland at high speed in order to work up a thirst!  The members of Linlithgow Reed Band may also often be seen enjoying a well earned "libation" after a demanding session in the band practice room.
