Linlithgow gala day funds receive another boost thanks to the generosity of patrons of Platform 3.  The cheque was accepted by 2004 gala Queen Rachael Addison and presented on behalf or the regulars by Janet, the manageress, who thanked the customers for their continued support of the pub's gala day fund raising efforts.  This cheque included the proceeds of a competition in which patrons paid £1 to guess how much money the charity whisky bottle on the bar contained.  The winner correctly predicted that the bottle contained £425 for which he received a bottle of Chivas Regal whisky.

There is lots of change in the whisky bottle but no change at all in the quality of the ale in Platform 3  The proceeds are donated to the gala day funds and customers are invited to guess how much is in the bottle.  Entries cost £1 a go and there are three prizes - a bottle of Chivas Regal whisky, a bottle of malt whisky and a Macallan fleece jacket.

The cask marque is an award given to pubs who maintain very high quality standards and assistant manager Brenda (left) and boss Ian have just learned that the pub has retained the award it first received in 2003.

Fancy a dram?  Platform 3 has a hot little number but it will set you back a little over £5 a time.  Ian has acquired a very rare 28 year old St. Magdalene's concoction which was distilled on June 2, 1975 and has been matured in oak casks ever since.

It's sold at cask strength of 41.8 per cent - and as locals will tell you, actually comes from the now defunct distillery just 500 yards up the road!
