Linlithgow & Linlithgow Bridge Children's Gala DayThe major, and by and large, the only charity that the pub officially supports is "The Linlithgow & Linlithgow Bridge Children's Gala Day". The Gala Day takes place annually on the Saturday immediately following the Marches. While "Riding the Marches" is an event that has traditionally involved the adults of the district, so the Gala Day is designed to be enjoyed by the younger members of our community. There are many ways in which guests may contribute, if they wish to do so, Contributions may be placed in the one gallon Chivas Regal bottle, but there are also various lotteries and events organised whereby you may (for a contribution) guess how much cash is in the bottle or you can estimate the number of miles that the pub train travels in a year (sponsored by GNER who provided two first class tail tickets to London). From time to time we also run a quiz night which the Gala Day also benefits from. Platform 3 with the help of our patrons has to date raised in excess of £5,000 for this very deserving charity, and in addition supplies wines and spirits on the day (at no charge). By the way, the wines and spirits are for the adult supporters and guests. We also provide Pop Corn and Candy Floss machines for the enjoyment of the the young people.
